Meet the NITLE Staff
Marcia Hawkins
Associate Director for Advancement
Marcia designs and implements fundraising plans, developing mutually beneficial relationships with corporations and foundations, to generate support for NITLE priorities. In addition, she takes ownership of special projects to advance the mission and effectiveness of the organization.
Marcia holds a B.B.A. in Finance from the University of Texas at Arlington and a MS.Ed. in Analytic Teaching from Texas Wesleyan University. Her PH.D. in History from the University of Texas at Arlington focused on the relationship between science and mysticism in late Victorian England, primarily through the life and works of Henry Havelock Ellis.
As a banker with Texas Commerce Bank, now Chase Bank, she was primarily responsible for marketing, business development, and women services. As vice president for administration at Texas Wesleyan University, she provided leadership for facilities master planning, plant operations, real estate, construction, human resources, purchasing & security. As assistant director and head of advancement for the Botanical Research Institute of Texas (BRIT), she led strategic planning efforts and planned, organized and implemented programs to raise funds for education, research, and publication.
As president of the Texas Independent College Foundation she provided leadership and strategic focus to advance TICF’s institutional mission. While at TICF, she developed, implemented, and hosted an annual student competition in business ethics for the students of TICF member campuses to provide a forum for discussion of ethical business practice. In addition, Marcia has served as a consultant on fundraising and organizational strategies for non-profit institutions.
Marcia has served as a member of the board of directors, as the southwest region representative, and as annual meeting chair of the Foundation for Independent Higher Education, Washington, D.C. She has also served as a judge for the Annual Celebration of Excellence by Students (ACES) at the University of Texas at Arlington.
Marcia enjoys tennis, sailing, bike riding, reading, and taking care of her two elderly dogs.
