Eric Jansson

Director, NITLE Labs

Location: Georgetown, Texas
Phone: (734) 661-1020
E-mail: ejansson@nitle.org

Eric leads NITLE Labs, which houses NITLE’s collaborative, inter-campus projects and research initiatives focused on exploring how new technologies can advance the liberal arts college sector. In this role, he develops partnerships and relationships with other organizations and initiatives, and designs and manages projects testing the applicability of new technology and practices for NITLE institutions.

Eric's introduction to technology came through his graduate work in Rhetoric and Composition at the University of Texas at Austin in the Digital Writing and Research Lab, where he taught about and researched the impact of networked technologies on composition instruction and literacy. After that, he worked for several years as software developer (principally in Java/J2EE technologies) in the for-profit sector on applications for remote web-based delivery of curriculum to secondary schools. In 2003, he joined the Associated Colleges of the South's Technology Center, and served there as Assistant Director for Systems and Development, developing web-based software systems to support remote collaboration and curriculum delivery. He also led efforts of the ACS in collaborative programs focused on enterprise systems management, including security and disaster recovery and digital repositories.

Eric lives in Austin, Texas, with his spouse Erika and their son Anders. His hobbies include skiing, snowboarding, and pretty much any sport relating to water that he has time to pursue: surfing, sailing, windsurfing, whitewater kayaking, scuba diving, and canoeing. He also likes to garden and learn and forget languages.
