Michael works to develop strategic directions for NITLE. In addition to building and maintaining relationships between NITLE and its participating institutions, he is working to build effective partnerships with kindred organizations that support the liberal arts sector of higher education. Current projects include the implementation of the NITLE National Advisory Board. Michael's specific areas of focus at NITLE include:

• organizational development
• strategic engagement
• business development

Michael received a B.A. in History and a Masters in Library Science from San Jose State University. After receiving his MLS, Michael created a program to teach the use of Internet resources to librarians in California. In the mid 1990s, he worked as Senior Project Manager for a web development firm in Seattle. Most recently, Michael worked as Director for Instructional Technology at the University of Puget Sound in Tacoma, Washington. In 2002, Michael became a Frye Leadership Institute fellow.

Michael works from his home in Tacoma, Washington. In his off hours he enjoys sailing the Puget Sound and building wooden boats and custom furniture. You can see some photos of this work on his Flickr account.
