She assists campuses explore new and creative ways to apply emerging technologies like video conferencing and collaborative tool sets to teach, coach, present, communicate with prospective or remote students, design curricula, and foster communities of practice.

A technical specialist for NITLE, Karen comes to us from the corporate world where she honed her skills launching successful virtual teams in the aftermath of 9/11. As an effective technology trainer, both face-to-face and virtual, Karen focused on the “people” aspects of successful collaboration online, emphasizing best practices rather than mouse clicking. Her BA is in Anthropology from Clarion University. (www.clarion.edu)

A transplanted Yankee, Karen lives in Georgetown, Texas, within walking and biking distance of the Southwestern University campus where she works. Karen enjoys playing the piano, writing music or notating others’, doodling, drawing, painting, and rediscovering the joys of puppyhood in her year-old shelter dog, Irwin.
