For instructional technology leaders, such as (but not limited to) directors of instructional technology or academic computing, who manage campus efforts to integrate technology into the curriculum. (7 program units. Liaisons' deadline:November 1, 2007)
At smaller, residential campuses focused on undergraduate liberal education, the instructional technology leader—regardless of title or professional location—serves in a pivotal role. Whether alone or with a small staff of instructional technologists and/or student assistants, he or she works to ensure that the campus’s investments in digital technology serve the institution’s curricular goals and that faculty members are able to take full advantage of these investments in their teaching.
At this conference, leaders of instructional technology will gain access to interactive, community-driven professional development sessions that will enable them to share their experiences of leading the integration of technology into instruction and student learning and to develop skills critical to the leadership role. Participants will have the opportunity to network with those in related roles at similar campuses about shared priorities and successful practices. Learning both from one another's experiences and from experts in the field, participants will hone their own leadership skills and strengthen their understanding of (how to manage) the relationship of their organizations to other campus units.
