Community-Driven Projects - Building Stronger Collaborative Relationships Across NITLE Institutions: An IT and Library Staff Collaboration

Project name: Building Stronger Collaborative Relationships Across NITLE Institutions: An IT and Library Staff Collaboration

Project lead: Keeta Martin, Director, Center for Teaching and Learning, Centre College

Summary: The symposium will be held in the Fall of 2008 and will begin on a Thursday evening over dinner. At that time, representatives from the schools will present a five-minute overview of the major initiatives, issues, and problems affecting his/her campus over the past year. The purpose of these summaries will be to help each participant understand what is happening and relevant on each of the campuses, as well as to provide a level by which to measure where each college stands on initiatives. Additionally, in this session, participants will learn first-hand whom to contact if they want more information on how to implement any given service successfully. Knowing of a colleague who can be contacted for advice should prove far more valuable than seeking advice from a vendor.

Intended outcome: Assessment will take place over a six-month period. At the close of the symposium, participants will complete a survey assessing the effectiveness of the workshops. Participants will then be surveyed six months following the symposium to elicit information about how the workshops have (or have not) impacted the support services offered on their campuses. The final report will include all comments.
