About NITLEWho we areNITLE is a community-based, non-profit initiative that provides tools and resources for collaboration, professional development programs, and information services to undergraduate-centered colleges, universities, and educational organizations. NITLE (pronounced "nightly") is also known as the National Institute for Technology and Liberal Education. NITLE is an initiative of Southwestern University, a selective, independent, four-year undergraduate national liberal arts college. If your institution or organization is interested in participating in the NITLE Network, please send an e-mail message to participate@nitle.org. Our participant relations team will be happy to answer any questions you may have and get you started with the enrollment process, including designating your institution's liaison to NITLE. What we do
NITLE is dedicated to advancing learning through the effective use of digital technologies. Faculty members, librarians, instructional and information technologists, and other staff members from participating institutions use our offerings to promote innovation in institutional and individual practices to enrich undergraduate education. In all our activities, NITLE leverages the expertise inherent in our participant community and provides a forum and resources to enable the strategic understanding and effective adoption of digital technologies. NITLE's integrated solution helps participating institutions lead and grow in a rapidly changing technology environment. By participating with NITLE, institutions and their faculties and staffs can learn together, build collaborative relationships across institutional, professional, and disciplinary boundaries, and promote innovation and leadership. Participation is an investment in a community-based, entrepreneurial, non-profit solution that provides rich networking opportunities, promotes collegial exchange and community development, offers professional development opportunities for faculty and staff, and creates low-risk access to technology solutions that make sense for the undergraduate-focused institution. Using this integrated model, participants who register for and attend professional development events can engage in discussion and learning with fellow participants both before and after a event, allowing them better to integrate what they learn with their everyday practices. Likewise, institutions subscribing to NITLE's information services have access to professional development, training, and community-building programs as well as online, community-based support for the exchange of best practices and just-in-time problem-solving. In short, NITLE provides tools, resources, and connections that enable participants to respond thoughtfully and effectively to the changing technological environment in which we live, work, and teach, and--through collaboration--to shape that environment to strengthen undergraduate education. |
