How to Use RSS
RSS, or "Really Simple Syndication," is a web tool that you can use to subscribe to updates from this and other websites. When you subscribe to an RSS feed, the webpage that you subscribe to makes content available to your RSS reader. An RSS reader is a software application that will automatically check the feeds to which you subscribe, download updates, and present those updates to you in the location you choose. With RSS, you can visit one location to catch up on all of your favorite sites, rather than visiting each separately.
Here's how you do it:
- Click on RSS logo (the small orange square) or the RSS link. We have two RSS feeds on this site: one for the Liberal Education Today blog and one for NITLE's upcoming events. These pages contain our most frequently updated content.
- Depending on what web browser you are using (e.g., Firefox, Internet Explorer, Safari, etc.), you will be presented with different options. You may need to select the application that you want to use to subscribe to the feed (the RSS reader), or the application may be selected for you automatically.
- Subscribe to the feed. You will see a "Subscribe to this feed" link or a "Subscribe Now" button or something similar.
- Follow the remaining steps.
The feed that you've subscribed to should now show up in the location you've selected (e.g., your bookmarks toolbar, Bloglines account, iGoogle homepage, etc.).
Cancellation Policy
Can I cancel my registration in an event? What will happen if I do so?
Yes. NITLE recognizes that plans may change and that it may be impossible for you to attend an event for which you have registered.
Cancellation of registration in a face-to-face event
- If you cancel by the published registration deadline, NITLE will return all of the program units you used to register for the event to your institution’s account.
- If you cancel after the published registration deadline, but at least four weeks prior to the event date, NITLE will return half of the program units you used to register for the event to your institution’s account.
- If you cancel with less than four week’s notice, NITLE will not return any program units used to register for the event; however, please note that a substitute participant may be sent in your stead up until the time of on-site check-in at the beginning of the event.
Cancellation of registration in an online event delivered via MIV
- If you cancel by the published registration deadline, NITLE will return all of the program units you used to register for the event to your institution’s account.
- If you cancel after the published registration deadline, NITLE will not return any program units used to register for the event; however, please note that a substitute participant may attend the event in your stead.
Substitutions
A registered participant may transfer his/her registration to another faculty or staff member from his/her institution up until the time of check-in for the event. Substitutions should be made according to institutional policy, if any. Substitutes should inform NITLE staff of the registration transfer at the start of the event.
How do I cancel my registration in an event?
To cancel your event registration, please send an e-mail message to participate@nitle.org, including the registrant’s name, job title, and e-mail address as well as the event title and event date.
Recordings of Online, MIV-delivered Events
Since recordings of online events may provide value to participants, NITLE strives to record them and make those recordings available. Not all events will be recorded, however. Recordings that are made may be distributed in various ways designed to provide valuable information to participating campuses and others.
NITLE asks event presenters for permissions to record their presentation and notifies participants registered for the event that they will be recorded, both when they register and at the opening of the event.
Currently, NITLE makes recordings available to all individual participants in the event for the first three months after the event. (Requests for a recording should be directed to the NITLE staff member who led the event.) After three months, any participant in the NITLE Network who logs in to the NITLE web site can access the recording from the event's web page. Anyone who accesses a recording agrees not to post that recording publicly.
